QUALITY TIME

The technology and fast paced society can make it easy to forget that spending time with our children is really important. Our time is one of the greatest things we can give them. Summer holds lots of opportunities to spend time together and some good old family bonding! Here's why you should make quality time important to your family.

Children who spend time with their parents build a stronger sense of self esteem.  When children feel that they are valued by their parents, they feel more positive about themselves. Family activities don't have to include spending lots of money or giving lots of gifts. Meaningful time is the most important part of being together. You could go for a walk or play a game together., or watch a movie.

Families who share everyday activities together become closer emotionally. Studies have found that families who enjoy group activities together share a stronger bond as well as an ability handle tough situations as a family. Share your favorite hobbies, sports , books, movies and other favorite activities.

Children who spend more time with their parents are less likely to get involved in negative behavior. According to studies done by the National Center on Addiction a d Substance Abuse via Arizona State University, teens who have infrequent family dinners are twice as likely to smoke tobacco, nearly twice as likely to drink alcohol and one and a half times more likely to smoke marijuana,

Children who frequently eat with their families usually have improved eating patterns compared to those who don't eat as often with family members.

When you spend time with your children you are creating an environment for socializing and they will be more open. Good communication is important for your children. They should be comfortable enough to come to you about anything. Simply asking your child how was their day was , can make a big difference.

Taking time out of your day to help your children with schoolwork or reading together, helps create a better future. They need to be in a caring environment that also the importance of education. If your child feels comfortable coming to you with schoolwork, they are more likely to do better in school.

Children learn from the examples they see. If you are setting a good example for them by spending quality time together, they are more likely to adopt those behaviors in other relationships in their lives. Simple things like playing games together will help them understand more about interacting with others as well as teach them things like sharing and kindness.

Family time means you can just have fun and enjoy each other s company which is what matters most. You've still got a little bit of time left before the children go back to school so make the most of it this weekend and do something together.
